Founder & engineer, AStarship · Eugene, Oregon
I build software, electronics, and the tools I need to make them work together. AStarship is my independent engineering company, with work in the Crabs abstract stack machine, AI systems, and Gradient Relativity research.
My background spans C++ and Python, embedded systems, PCB design, audio engineering, and startup development. I prefer to show the code, prototypes, and research behind a project so people can examine the work for themselves.
Biomimicry changed how I approach invention. Outside engineering, I play improvisational trumpet, make electronic music, write, and make art. I have also volunteered with CoderDojo, teaching LEGO engineering, C#, C++, and Scratch to young people.

Explore ASCII CrabsMy integer-to-string algorithm research uses divide-and-conquer conversion to reduce division instructions. I developed and compared multiple approaches using benchmarks and public research notes.

Follow LinearId's development historyHands-on electronics work: MIDI and DMX controllers, USB audio interfaces, power supplies, PCB design, and small-component prototype assembly. I worked through repeated hardware iterations rather than stopping at the schematic.
